FASHION-CENTER, BOCHOLT
A new administration building and design studio
A new showpiece for Bocholt has been created in the south of the city with the new building for the Weidemann Fashion Group. 115 employees from the design, distribution and administration central business sectors have found a new domicile in the new building on the old “Klein-Wiele” site.
The semicircular, 3-storey presentation and administration wing is defined by a double skin glass facade. It is connected to the rectangular 2-storey workshop in which the test pattern sewing section and the design section are accommodated.
In effect the building has no rearside due to its architectural concept and presents a formatively distinctive impression to the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Strasse.
Both building elements are connected by a central hall, which has the function of the buildings circulation and is suitable for representative purposes. The entrance building’s double skin glass facade ensures that people can work in spite of being next to a very busy street since the sound insulation technical criteria are fulfilled.
In consultation with the fire prevention authorities and the fire brigade a sprinkler system was installed to maintain the generosity of the internal circulation spaces. This made it possible to dispense with the usual fire and smoke protection compartmentalisation and to fulfil the user’s demands for an open and transparent building.
After barely 11 months construction time an administration building which fulfils modern work space requirements could be handed over to the owner.
